This is an exhibition of “Namban lacquerware,” crafted in Japan from the end of the Azuchi-Momoyama to the early Edo period and exported to Europe. In just about 50 years, Namban lacquerware became a symbol of East-West cultural exchange, captivating both Japanese and European audiences.
