The Beginnings of Agriculture in the Mino Region
March 29 (Sat) – May 25 (Sun), 2025
This exhibition explores the origins of agriculture in the Mino region based on archaeological sites and artifacts from the Yayoi and Kofun periods. Featuring pottery, wooden farming tools, and other rice cultivation-related materials excavated from sites in Gifu City, Ogaki City, and Kani City, the exhibition showcases the spread of paddy field-based agriculture in Mino from the Yayoi to Kofun periods.

The Treasures of Ryushoji Temple, Famous Temples of Mino―A World of Ancient Documents and Buddhist Paintings―

Kikkosan Ryushoji Temple is located in Gifu City’s Nishinosho district. It’s an ancient, Buddhist temple of the Jodo sect founded in the 14th century, during the Nanbokucho period. This exhibit showcases some of Gifu Prefecture’s most impressive ancient documents and Buddhist paintings, handed down from Ryushoji Temple.

The World of Noh Costumes in the early modern period
Exhibition period: July 17 (Sat) – September 12 (Sun), 2021
This exhibit showcases Noh costumes actually used at Noh theaters which was regarded as important as it became ceremonial entertainment for the warrior class during the Edo period. It provides introduction to how Noh costumes were improved during the time when high-quality domestic silk production systems, dyeing and weaving technologies were established.
The exhibit presents the charm of Noh costumes as art pieces that go beyond stage garments and the Japanese craftsmanship behind it, by introducing the historical background and the costumes restored by experts who have a deep understanding of the materials and techniques of the time.

An exhibition focusing on Akechi Mitsuhide, the main character in the NHK taiga drama series “Awaiting Kirin.” It highlights Mitsuhide and the era he lived in.
