Planned exhibition “The Archaeology of Harvest: The Beginnings of Agriculture in the Mino Region”

개최 중

March 29 (Sat) – May 25 (Sun), 2025

Rice cultivation techniques were introduced to the Mino region early in the Yayoi period, leading to rice farming. Excavations at sites in the western Mino (Seino) region such as the Imajuku site have uncovered remains related to Yayoi-period rice farming, including wooden tools used for agriculture. Additionally, groyne structures from the Kofun period have been discovered at the Kakida site in Kani City, indicating the presence of irrigation systems for farming.
This exhibition highlights farming tools and ritual objects unearthed in the Mino region, illustrating how people first encountered rice cultivation in the Yayoi period and how their agricultural practices evolved through the Kofun period and into ancient times.
